Virginia Frederick County to wit. Samuel Johnston twenty five years old five feet seven inches high yellow complexion with a good countenance was Emancipated by Robert Carter by deed bearing date the first day of August 1791 and duly recorded in Northumberland District Court as appears by a Certificate signed by Benjamin Dawson trustee for Robert Carter deceased Registered 21st August 1812,

a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid

I James Keith Clerk of the Court of the County aforesaid do hereby certify that the above is a true copy of the records in my office  In testimony Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal of the said County the 21st day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & twelve
