Know all men by these Presents that I, Benjamin Mills of the Town of Washington and State of Pennsylvania Do hereby liberate and emancipate from all manner of slavery A certain Negro man called Caleb otherwise called Caleb Mills and Do hereby allow him to possess his freedom in full according to the slaves of this Commonwealth clear from all claims made or hereafter to be made by me my heirs assigns or any other person under me claiming or demanding a right to the person or services of the said Caleb Witness my hand & seal this fifth day of June in the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred and four. —

Signed sealed and delivered in presence of, –John Wilkins and Andrew Richardson two of the Justices of the Peace in Allegheny County and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania  As witness our hands and seals the fifth day of June in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and four.
